WINSTON-SALEM, NC — Don McFarland plans to stay home with his family instead of traveling to Winston-Salem, NC next month for the 2004 Carl Spackler Open Championship.

"Things are great. I am looking forward to 2005," McFarland said.  "I hope that the business office can find a replacement with such short notice."

McFarland gives up his Captains Club promotion with the announcement from his home in Hilliard.  McFarland placed tied for 23rd in last year's event, but placed 2nd at the 2002 event in Williamsburg.

"I'd love to play and it?s not about the kitchen passes," he said. "The Open is a very special tournament. But right now, the time I'm spending with my family is the most important thing to me, and I wouldn't trade it for anything."
