The Legacy Continues: 2027 Date Announced
July 20, 2026
BIRMINGHAM, AL — As the golfing world looks ahead to another spectacular week on the links, organizers are thrilled to officially announce the dates for the 2027 Carl Spackler Open. Set to take place from June 9–12, 2027, next year’s tournament promises to add another magnificent chapter to a quarter-century-long tradition of camaraderie, competition, and premier golf.
For 25 years, the Carl Spackler Open has journeyed across America’s most scenic and challenging fairways—from the coastal breezes of Myrtle Beach and South Padre Island to the rolling greens of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, and beyond. Following last year's unforgettable tournament at Juliette Falls in Dunnellon, FL, anticipation for 2027 is already reaching an all-time high.
“We are considering factors such as venue availability and the schedules of the Captains Club," explained Greg Long, a member of the governing body.
The Chairman of the Captains Club stressed the importance of confirming the date soon, stating, "It’s crucial to get the date set and communicated as soon as possible. So today we are doing that 11 months in advance.”
A close look at the historical scheduling choices for the Carl Spackler Open reveals a deliberate preference for the sweet spot of late spring and early summer. The vast majority of tournaments over the past 25 years have been strategically set between June and mid-July to guarantee ideal playing weather across various regions of the country. However, organizers have occasionally leaned toward earlier spring dates—such as April events in Florida (2026, 2010) and Virginia (2002), or even an early March tee-off in South Carolina (2001)—to take full advantage of milder early-season climates when visiting southern destinations.
